September Luncheon Meeting
Time:
September 16, 2010, 11:15 am to 1:30 pm
Location:
Republic Bank, Louisville
Program:
Please join us in Louisville, Kentucky at the largest Kentucky headquartered bank. Republic Bank will be the host for the September lunch meeting. The bank is located at 9600 Brownsboro Road in Louisville (near the Summit).

Have you ever felt like a Gumby figurine that is being pulled in 500 different directions? Time Management expert, Steve Prentice, through his presentation, Getting Further by Going Slower, will help Gumby to regain his shape. The format of the lunch meeting has changed. The educational component will start promptly at 12:30PM. Through this change, KBC MPI is able to provide a more substantial educational session. As a result, this will be a dual feature session. The second portion of this session will feature Steve Prentice’s presentation, Putting More Life into Your Meetings.

In an age where "SLOW" is a four-letter word, Steve Prentice, through his presentation, Getting Further by Going Slower, demonstrates how a renewed "slow" approach to work is not only better, it is essential to your future employability and the on-going success of your firm. The higher, more valuable areas of human cognitive ability, such as active listening in a sales call, conflict management at the workplace, or even clear, creative problem-solving for the customer, are being eroded by our constant need to answer emails, hold endless meetings and carry Blackberry-type devices wherever we go. Through his expertise in Project Management and Psychology, he will show you how the brain and body work better when allowed to step away from the pressures of the immediate. This presentation is not a motivational speech or a yoga class. It is a quantifiable demonstration of the value and the need for professionals to swing the pendulum away from the reactionary state of e-mail overload in order to maximize productivity AND demonstrate on-going value to your customers. It is phrased in layperson's terms, using case studies, how-to's, and even a dash of humor. In an age of global business and off-shoring, this is your insurance policy for on-going business.

The second portion of this session is Putting More Life into Your Meetings. Americans attend millions of meetings every year, yet few of them ever live up to their potential. This is because meetings are almost always set up wrong. Too much attention is paid to the agenda and not enough to the people involved. Maintaining attention and participation requires a greater understanding of the motives of humans. In this session, Steve will talk about real techniques for turning a meeting into a dynamic, productive, time- efficient, structured and interactive event that moves your business forward. Join us for this jam-packed hour, guaranteed to improve your business and your life.

This lunch meeting will also be the 3rd “Bring a Planner for Free” lunch of the new MPI year. Showcase the value of KBC MPI by inviting a potential non-member planner to join us for lunch, networking and education. When registering a non-member planner, please send an email with the planner’s name, company title, email address and phone number directly to gjewell@aecmanagement.com.
